Quidnet
is a beach located in the village of Siasconaset on the east end of Nantucket Island. Quidnet Ocean Beach is thought by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The area is filled with beach cottages and vacation rental homes. Quidnet is near Squam Farm trails and just minutes from a bike path and bus stop, which takes to you anywhere you want on Nantucket. Also in the area is the Sankaty Head Golf Club. Sankaty was designed by Emerson Armstrong and opened in 1923. Membership is private, but the public is welcome to play in the off-season (October through May) for a fee. Other attractions near Quidnet include the famous Sankaty Head Light, built in 1850, it's one of the most photographed lighthouses on the eastern seaboard. The grounds around the lighthouse are open to the public but the actual lighthouse is not. Other places to visit on Nantucket Island include the Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum, the Lightship Basket Museum, Nantucket Aquarium, The Whaling Museum, the Old Quaker Meetinghouse and the African Meetinghouse. Recreational activities include swimming, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and picnicking on the beach.

Nantucket Island has a moderate climate with four distinct seasons. The surrounding Atlantic Ocean moderates the climate of the offshore islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, making it milder than that of inland Massachusetts. Rain and fog are not uncommon on Nantucket Island - even in the summertime. Spring is a short season and snow flurries are possible even in April. Summers are quite warm and humid, but with cooling ocean breezes that keep it from becoming too uncomfortable. Fall is very pleasant with mild, sunny days and cool, crisp nights. Extreme weather is a possibility every few years, including nor'easters and hurricanes. However, hurricanes generally weaken to a tropical storm by the time they reach the island.
