Norwell
is an affluent residential town located on the North River in Plymouth County in east-central Massachusetts. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,506. Currently, Norwell is ranked 44th in the list of wealthiest towns in Massachusetts. The town of Norwell is about 18 miles southeast of Boston, close enough to enjoy all the excitement of the city, if you wish, yet largely untouched by the traffic and crowds. It's a lovely, peaceful place - with much to offer both visitors and residents. Located on the "South Shore" region of Massachusetts, Norwell has woodlands, beaches, scenic coastline and peaceful parks. The Atlantic Ocean beaches are just a five - ten minute drive away, and fishing and boating on the South Shore are very popular. Superb hiking trails are available at South Shore National Science Center, Stetson Meadows, Norris Reservation, Vinal School Nature Trail and the Donovan Farms Path. Wintertime activities include sledding, ice-skating and snowshoeing. The North River is another great place for fishing, boating and canoeing. Other recreational areas throughout Norwell include the Valley Swamp Conservation Land, Albert F. Norris Reservation, the Black Pond Natural Preserve, North River Salt Marsh, Cuffey Hill Reservation and Miller Woods.

Southeastern Massachusetts , along the coast, has a continental climate with maritime influences. Some areas are classified as humid continental, and others are humid subtropical. Summers are warm and humid with the possibility of thunderstorms. Occasionally these storms are severe with hail and heavy downpours. Winters are cold and snowy, with most snowfall occurring between December and March. Spring and autumn are mild, but changeable depending on the wind direction and jet stream. Cool sea breezes are common, especially in spring. Fog is also commonplace, especially in spring and early summer. Tropical storms or hurricanes are possible, especially in early autumn, but not common.
