Cohasset
is a charming New England town, located on the South Shore of Massachusetts. The South Shore is a region that stretches south and east from Boston to Cape Cod on the shores of Massachusetts Bay and Cape Cod Bay. As of the 2010 census, the population of Cohasset was 7,542. Cohasset sits on the "corner" of the South Shore, which is a rocky, rugged portion of the coast, with many small ledges that lie just offshore. The waves roll and tumble over the rocks and ledges as they rush towards the shore. In addition, several brooks and streams run through the town and a large portion of the southwestern part of town contains the Wompatuck State Park and the Whitney & Thayer Woods Reservation. Wheelwright Park, a large bird sanctuary and three beaches provide even more outdoor recreation opportunities. The beautiful, protected Cohasset Harbor is a wonderful sight with its lobster boats and the historic Minot's Lighthouse. Be sure to bring your camera! The coastal drive along this region is known as the "Gold Coast" and is noted for its stately homes and ocean vistas. Things to do in Cohasset include a weekly summer Farmer's Market on the Common, a special Memorial Day Parade, the annual South Shore Arts Festival, and the Village Strawberry Festival. Several holiday events are held in Cohasset also, including the Holiday Stroll, which offers live music, raffles, good food and hay rides through the village.

Southeastern Massachusetts , along the coast, has a continental climate with maritime influences. Some areas are classified as humid continental, and others are humid subtropical. Summers are warm and humid with the possibility of thunderstorms. Occasionally these storms are severe with hail and heavy downpours. Winters are cold and snowy, with most snowfall occurring between December and March. Spring and autumn are mild, but changeable depending on the wind direction and jet stream. Cool sea breezes are common, especially in spring. Fog is also commonplace, especially in spring and early summer. Tropical storms or hurricanes are possible, especially in early autumn, but not common.
