Mashpee
is located on the southwest end of Cape Cod, bordered by Sandwich on the north, Barnstable on the east, Nantucket Sound on the south and Falmouth on the west. It is 28 miles south of the historic settlement of Plymouth and approximately 66 miles southeast of Boston. Mashpee boasts over five miles of sandy beaches on the warm Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds, with extensive waterfront on Waquoit and Popponesset Bays and four of the largest freshwater ponds on Cape Cod. Popular activities in the Mashpee area include boating and fishing, swimming and sunbathing. There are more than twenty golf courses within a fifteen-minute drive of Mashpee, including the town's own three world-class courses. The town is also home to the famous Mashpee Commons, a community shopping center known for its' traditional New England-style architecture. Mashpee is unique in that it is one of the remaining homes of the Wampanoag Nation, which is the Native American tribe that met the Pilgrims at Plymouth. The Wampanoag tribe continues to play a significant role in the community through the town's Indian Museum, the ongoing activities of the Tribal Council and the annual Pow Wow in July. Mashpee is a prime resort and retirement community that offers a relaxed way of life, where every effort is made to maintain the town's economic vitality while protecting its natural resources and sense of tranquility.

Mashpee Weather & Climate

The Cape Cod region has a four season climate with maritime influences. The weather here is generally more moderate than inland Massachusetts. Extreme conditions such as blizzards and hurricanes are possible, but not typical. Due to the moderating affect of the ocean, temperatures in the Cape Cod region are usually a few degrees cooler in summer and a few degrees warmer in winter. Spring comes late and is chilly, but autumn is mild and remains warmer than places further inland. The Cape Cod region has the lowest precipitation of anyplace in New England. Tropical storms occur once every 5 or 6 years, with very high winds and heavy rain. On average, the area is hit by a hurricane once every 11 or 12 years.
