Brant-Point
is a neighborhood on Nantucket Island off the southern coast of Massachusetts. It's just minutes to the Nantucket town center, beaches and the ferries. Brant Point is home to the Brant Point Light, first established on this site in 1756. The current lighthouse tower was built in 1901 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The grounds are open to the public and includes several other buildings, including the light keeper's house. The whole island of Nantucket is a designated National Historic District, and one of Massachusetts most desirable tourist destinations. Nearly forty percent of the island is protected conservation land, and it's known for its' beautiful, wide sandy beaches. Bicycling is a good way to explore Nantucket where the cobblestone streets are lined with fine shops and boutiques, art galleries and museums. Guided tours of the island are also available. Special events on Nantucket Island include a Daffodil Festival in the spring and the Annual Christmas Stroll (usually held the first weekend in December as part of a month long Nantucket Noel Celebration.) Bicycling is popular on Nantucket Island, and other activities include hiking, fishing, kayaking, golf, shopping and dining in fantastic seafood restaurants.

Nantucket Island has a moderate climate with four distinct seasons. The surrounding Atlantic Ocean moderates the climate of the offshore islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, making it milder than that of inland Massachusetts. Rain and fog are not uncommon on Nantucket Island - even in the summertime. Spring is a short season and snow flurries are possible even in April. Summers are quite warm and humid, but with cooling ocean breezes that keep it from becoming too uncomfortable. Fall is very pleasant with mild, sunny days and cool, crisp nights. Extreme weather is a possibility every few years, including nor'easters and hurricanes. However, hurricanes generally weaken to a tropical storm by the time they reach the island.
