Annisquam
is a waterfront neighborhood on the rocky Cape Ann shoreline, located within the city of Gloucester in northeast Massachusetts. Annisquam dates to 1631 when it was an artist colony that was home to painters such as George Loftus Noyes and Margaret Fitzhugh Browne. Today, it's primarily a residential community, just a few miles from downtown Gloucester. The neighborhood includes a marina, a restaurant, a library and the Annisquam Yacht Club. Attractions include the Annisquam Harbor Light, which dates to 1801, and the historic Annisquam Bridge, which is a wood pile bridge that listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Activities include boating, sailing, swimming, fishing, whale watching, shopping and dining at fine seafood restaurants along the scenic coast. Gloucester is America's oldest fishing port city, and Cape Ann has a variety of beaches; the two main ones are Good Harbor Beach and Wingaersheek Beach. Other attractions near Annisquam include the Sargent House Museum, the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center, the Hammond Castle Museum and the Schooner Adventure, a 69-year-old Gloucester fishing schooner that is a designated a National Historic Landmark. Parts of the movie, "The Perfect Storm," starring George Clooney, were filmed in and around the town of Gloucester.

Southeastern Massachusetts , along the coast, has a continental climate with maritime influences. Some areas are classified as humid continental, and others are humid subtropical. Summers are warm and humid with the possibility of thunderstorms. Occasionally these storms are severe with hail and heavy downpours. Winters are cold and snowy, with most snowfall occurring between December and March. Spring and autumn are mild, but changeable depending on the wind direction and jet stream. Cool sea breezes are common, especially in spring. Fog is also commonplace, especially in spring and early summer. Tropical storms or hurricanes are possible, especially in early autumn, but not common.
