Sharon
is located in Norfolk County in southeastern Massachusetts, about 17 miles from downtown Boston. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,612 full-time residents. Sharon is the quintessential New England town with tree-lined streets and 3 white-steepled churches on the town square. It's a vibrant mix of artists, business professionals and civil servants, many who commute to nearby Boston. A sign in the Post Office Square says "A nice place to live because it's naturally beautiful." This is evident especially at Lake Massapoag - the town's jewel. At 400 acres, Lake Massapoag is the site of summer concerts, fishing, boating, swimming and fireworks. The town of Sharon was a popular summer resort in the 1800s through the 1940s. People would travel here from the city of Boston and beyond for the fresh, clean air, tranquil lake and country inns. The town is home to many hiking trails, as well as the 2,250-acre Massachusetts Audubon Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary. In addition, sixty percent of the Borderland State Park lies within its borders. Sharon also offers 1,500 acres of public conservation land, which totals 5,000 acres of protected open space within the town. It's a lovely place to visit and all the shops, restaurants, museums and other attractions of Boston is just minutes away.

Southeastern Massachusetts , along the coast, has a continental climate with maritime influences. Some areas are classified as humid continental, and others are humid subtropical. Summers are warm and humid with the possibility of thunderstorms. Occasionally these storms are severe with hail and heavy downpours. Winters are cold and snowy, with most snowfall occurring between December and March. Spring and autumn are mild, but changeable depending on the wind direction and jet stream. Cool sea breezes are common, especially in spring. Fog is also commonplace, especially in spring and early summer. Tropical storms or hurricanes are possible, especially in early autumn, but not common.
