East-Harwich
is a village located in the town of Harwich on Cape Cod in southeastern Massachusetts. It's the most populous of the villages of Harwich, with approximately 4,700 residents. East Harwich, like all of the town of Harwich, is a quiet resort community on the south side of the cape, along the shore of the Nantucket Sound. Miles of rivers, marshes and coastline provide activities such as canoeing, fly fishing, deep sea fishing, hiking, swimming and beachcombing. In addition, Harwich has three protected harbors, perfect for fishing, scuba diving, boating or sailing. To the west of the village is Hawknest State Park, which offers 1300 acres of hiking trails and a sandy beach area for swimming. There are seven villages altogether in the town of Harwich that offer unique shopping, historical sites, cozy bed & breakfasts and old-fashioned country inns. Dining ranges from take-out to elegant seafood restaurants. Cultural offerings in East Harwich includes the Brooks Academy Museum displaying historic artifacts local to this area, performing arts at the Harwich Junior Theater, music at the Town Band Concerts and various outdoor art shows.

The Cape Cod region has a four season climate with maritime influences. The weather here is generally more moderate than inland Massachusetts. Extreme conditions such as blizzards and hurricanes are possible, but not typical. Due to the moderating affect of the ocean, temperatures in the Cape Cod region are usually a few degrees cooler in summer and a few degrees warmer in winter. Spring comes late and is chilly, but autumn is mild and remains warmer than places further inland. The Cape Cod region has the lowest precipitation of anyplace in New England. Tropical storms occur once every 5 or 6 years, with very high winds and heavy rain. On average, the area is hit by a hurricane once every 11 or 12 years.
