Jiminy-Peak
is the name of the southern peak of Potter Mountain in the Taconic Mountains of northwestern Massachusetts - and also the name of a ski resort on the mountain. The ski resort and lodge is located in the town of Lanesborough. Jiminy Peak offers 45 trails and nine lifts for alpine skiing and snowboarding. It's not just for wintertime activities, however, but also a summer resort park, as well. Get ready for exciting fun at the mountaintop park, which offers a mountain coaster, alpine super slide, giant swing, mountain biking and hiking. Jiminy Peak's mountain coaster takes you on twists and turns through the woods - at the speed that suits you best. You can take it nice and slow, or at speeds up to 23 mph. The super slide is similar, in that you can control your own speed, as you glide through tunnels, curves and turns. The alpine super slide is the first of its kind in the country. Jiminy Peak also has Segway tours, zipline rides and an aerial adventure park. There's a country store at Jiminy Peak that sells everything from wine and beer, sandwiches, souvenirs, as well as unique items like maple syrup and specialty teas. You have your choice of eateries on the mountain, too, including fine dining and a restaurant at the summit lodge (open only during the peak skiing season.) Jiminy Peak also offers 15,000 square feet for meetings, conferences, weddings, receptions and other special events.

Western New York, including The Berkshires, has a moderate four-season climate. The first significant snowfall usually occurs in December, but it varies from year to year. Some years there is no snow or ice until after the first of the new year, and the temperatures near The Hudson River stay quite mild. March is the month to look for the first signs of spring, although cool temps can linger throughout the month. Summers are hazy, warm and humid. September can be mixed with either clear, cool Canadian air or humid, warm air with intense downpours. October is possibly the most beautiful month in the Berkshires with warm, sunny days and cool, crisp nights. Perfect weather for enjoying the foliage. Typically, colors peak the first three weeks of October.
