West-Dennis
is located on the "upper arm" region of Cape Cod, midway above the elbow. It is bordered by Cape Cod Bay on the north, Brewster and Harwich on the east, the Nantucket Sound on the south and Yarmouth on the west. It is one of the five villages of the town of Dennis, which was named an "All-American Town" in 1978, and offers a mix of traditional New England charm and modern day conveniences. The town of Dennis contains the villages of East Dennis, Dennis and South Dennis, which feature scenic historic districts dating back to the early whaling days, while tranquil tree-lined streets meander throughout the two villages of Dennisport and West Dennis. Sixteen beautiful beaches are located on the warm waters of Nantucket Sound to the south and on the crisp refreshing waters of Cape Cod Bay to the north. Numerous recreation trails in the region offer walking, jogging or biking and convenient business districts throughout the villages provide ample restaurants, shopping and other services. Dennis is also home to the country's oldest summer theater, the Cape Playhouse. The Dennis Festival Days is held each August and celebrates the town's New England heritage, while other various summer activities are offered throughout the season, such as arts and crafts shows and concerts on the village green. West Dennis is only ten minutes to Hyannis, the "hub" of Cape Cod and it's approximately 75 miles from Boston.

The Cape Cod region has a four season climate with maritime influences. The weather here is generally more moderate than inland Massachusetts. Extreme conditions such as blizzards and hurricanes are possible, but not typical. Due to the moderating affect of the ocean, temperatures in the Cape Cod region are usually a few degrees cooler in summer and a few degrees warmer in winter. Spring comes late and is chilly, but autumn is mild and remains warmer than places further inland. The Cape Cod region has the lowest precipitation of anyplace in New England. Tropical storms occur once every 5 or 6 years, with very high winds and heavy rain. On average, the area is hit by a hurricane once every 11 or 12 years.
